Our Team Story

Beta Lambda chapter of Virginia Alpha Delta Kappa, an International Honorary

Organization of Women Educators, has been involved in raising funds and

awareness, and supporting the mission of the Alzheimer’s Association since 2012

Our efforts started with 3 sisters impacted directly and have grown to an annual

chapter altruistic project supporting the Greater Richmond Chapter of the

Alzheimer’s Association. Through partnerships with local businesses, community

organizations, chapter sisters, friends, and families, Beta Lambda has donated over

$22,000.00 to The Longest Day campaign. Our 2024 fundraising goal

this year is $3, 000.00. Alzheimer’s is a brain disease that causes a slow decline in memory, thinking and reasoning skills. In our chapter alone, 100% of our members have

intimate experiences with family, friends, or colleagues affected with dementia.

Our current 2024 Longest Day plans include making plans to register with the Tappahannock Farmers' Market and set up a booth for April, May, and June. Our Forget Me Nots team will staff a booth containing handouts identifying local agencies who serve those with dementia. There will also be various sale items - notecards, Alzheimer's bracelets, raffle tickets for gift baskets and more. Come join us, and together we will BE THE LIGHT in the fight for a cure.

On the Longest Day, June 20, 2024, or any day, please help promote the light and end the darkness of Alzheimer's.
