Our Team Story
The Longest Day is the day with the most light - the summer solstice. On June 20, 2024, people from across the world will fight the darkness of Alzheimer's through a fundraising activity of their choice.
I choose to honor my grandma, Doris Gillette, and her crippling gambling habit and fondness of hustling the gals on the local links by running a Masters golf pool every year. Dotty was a player ;)
All kidding aside, I help fight Alzheimer's because of the devastating impact it has on families - emotionally, physically, and financially. My mom, Joan Giannetti, was my grandma's caregiver for most of her decade-long journey and that showed me what unwavering love looks like. And, we're forever grateful for the Association who helped us navigate a horrific case of elder abuse before Doris broke free from the chains of Alzheimer's in 2017.
So why support the Association? Well, your donations not only help provide local resources and support to the 7M Americans living with Alzheimer's, but they also help fund research. The Association is the largest nonprofit funder of research behind only the US and Chinese governments, with current funding of over $320M in more than 1000 projects in 54 countries. Their grants have funded some of the most instrumental research in Alzheimer's and dementia science.
If you'd like to participate in the 2023 Masters golf pool (April 11-14, 2024), please email me at ben.giannetti@gmail.com. Last year's winner took home over $3000!
Hopefully, our efforts will one day lead to having the FIRST Alzheimer's survivor!
