The Longest Day is the day of the year with the most light -- the summer solstice. In June, The Admiral's Daughters and its founders, Lindsay & Jim Amerault are hosting The Purple Parade in Atlantic Beach (www.jaxpurpleparade.com ) to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association. We will also be fundraising on our company website, www.TheAdmiralsDaughters.com through the sale of specialty graphic tees and event sponsorships.

"Mom (Tass) was the facilitator of all things education, music, art, sports. The biggest cheerleader, the most proud woman, the one who was okay with telling you NO when she didn't want you to go to a party, but was NOT okay with you not trying. She was constantly encouraging us to fail forward. Applying to the reach schools, trying out for the team, training to be an incredible musician In my constant pursuit of an unconventional career path, one of the last clear messages she delivered to me verbally was when I was home visiting and launching our company's website a simple "I am so proud of you, I would never be brave enough to take the risk" Tass, 35 years of your love, inspiration and encouragement, the close knit family that you wove, continues to push not just me, but all of your children, to take the risk.

Albeit the last 5 years have been grueling, emotional, tireless and trying, they have also been an absolute privilege. You see, as the youngest in our family, I was given a supreme advantage when this all started with Mom. I was in a stage of life that afforded me the opportunity to move to Jacksonville to "help". But what I received has been far greater than any "help" given I was a witness to the greatest love story. Love so strong and vast love so selfless and true...love so fierce & loyal. Love that I'm sure we all wish for, and hopefully strive for The love between Tass & Dad. I am in debt to my parents for harvesting this love and sharing it with me for all of these years.

To the faceless monster that robbed us of our precious Tass YOU LOSE. I hope you are witnessing this collision of friends, family & community. TOGETHER we find joy & comfort in one another. Thank you to all of mom's friends old and new(er) and thank you for being there for our family, those who knew mom as herself, and those who have been around the past few years to help us. The spirit of togetherness and selflessness in our community is an extension of our incredible mother.

You know. There is something quite beautiful about sorrow. Through curtains of glossy tears, there is often a heart reflecting with gratitude. In our case, and the case of those around the world affected by Alzheimer's, a lot of hearts"

Today, an estimated 50 million people worldwide are living with Alzheimer's or other dementias, including more than 5 million Americans. In the United States alone, 16 million friends and family members are providing their care. We must take action now, or these numbers will continue to rise.

Stand up to the darkness of Alzheimer's and make a donation today to help the Alzheimer's Association support all those facing the disease. Thank you!
