On June 20, I'm participating in The Longest Day, an event to honor the strength, passion and endurance of those facing Alzheimer's disease. From sunrise to sunset, my team will complete an activity of our choosing to raise awareness and funds for the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.

As in the year's past, we will be honoring Haley's granny, who lost the love of her life, Haley's papa Newt Hicks, to dementia. The Hicks have a long tradition of playing games together when families and friends visit. So, in honor of sweet Granny Oleta and Papa Newt, we will be playing cards, dominoes, and board games all day long.

Today, over 50 million people across the world are living with dementia, including more than 6 million Americans. In the United States alone, more than 11 million caregivers generously dedicate themselves to those with Alzheimer's and dementia. And these numbers will only continue to rise unless we take action.
