My grandmother, Pat Hampson, passed away in the summer of 2022 after a long battle with dementia. This awful disease affects so many millions around the world. Despite the advances in technology and medicine, it seems we still know so little about dementia and how to combat it. 

For each of the past several years, I've shared links on Facebook requesting donations to the Alzheimer's Association around my birthday. If you've contributed to these before, I cannot thank you enough. This year, though, I wanted to do something much bigger - something fun and memorable. 

I've partnered with Thunderbird Lanes Holme Ave. in Northeast Philadelphia to host a family-friendly afternoon filled with bowling, great food, door prizes and more. All profits from bowling and our raffles will be donated. The event details are below: 

• Sunday June 9, 1:00-4:00pm
• Thunderbird Lanes Holme Ave.
• 3075 Holme Ave., Philadelphia PA, 19136
• Door prizes, raffle baskets, 50/50 drawing
• Food and drink available at the Hang Ten Bar & Grille
• $100 per lane, $20 per person (5 people max per lane)
  
• Payments are due to Mike by May 19, three weeks before the event

I hope to see you at our event! I understand that the summer can be so busy for us. If you can't make it but would still like to show your support to a great cause, I hope you'll consider donating. I've set an ambitious yet very achievable goal, and I know we can reach it.
