My Story

On June 24th I will be participating in the kayaking portion of the 8th annual Washburn Challenge, an amazing fundraising event in and around Falmouth on Cape Cod in benefit of the Alzheimer's Association.

Through this event, I will be honoring my friend Stu McLeod's work on behalf of his sister. She died as a result of Alzheimer's disease, and in the years since Stu has been a force to be reckoned with in raising money for The Alzheimer's Association. Stu and I went to high school together... you know, just a few years ago... Anyway, he holds this event in June (right around the Solstice which is the longest day of the year) at his house on the Cape where I visited several times back in the day. It is a special place, and it is great to see such a significant event happening there. 

This year the Washburn Challenge will take place on Saturday, June 22nd. Participants are raising funds in support of a 22-mile bike ride on the Shining Sea Bike Path (America's first Rail Trail) in the morning, and a 7-mile paddle on Waquoit Bay in the afternoon. 100% of the funds raised will benefit the Alzheimer's Association, helping to advance care, support and research efforts to end Alzheimer's.
