My mom Helen (Honey to her sisters) was always the life of the party, making everyone laugh & serving incredible food! She was talented in so many ways including singing. She performed at recitals while my dad, Don, played the piano. One of the first things we noticed, in her around age 50, was she couldn't remember the words to the classic songs. And then the story goes on from there.

She died at 72 but in a lot of ways we lost her in her early 50's. I recall wondering when she would "lose the next thing", like how to put on her lipstick or eat on her own.

Being a caregiver during this long illness was a struggle & at the time very isolating & lonely. Friends no longer called or visited as it became more awkward & travel to visit her relatives became impossible.
