My Story

This is my mom, Michele Marie Miller and she was wonderful.  She succumbed to Alzheimer's on February 22nd 2023.  Her husband Dan, her daughter Rebecca and I miss her immensely.

The Longest Day -  June 21st is the day of the year with the most sunlight - the summer solstice. This year I am again participating in The Longest Day to fight the darkness of Alzheimer's through the Alzheimer’s Association’s Mah Jongg for Memories and my local Loudoun Mah Jongg League team. I am continuing to raise awareness for the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer Association.

Please help me honor Michele Marie Miller by standing up to the darkness of Alzheimer's and dementia.

Gratefully, jennifer teague

Obituary - Michele Marie Miller passed away peacefully at the age of 77 on February 22, 2023 at Sunrise Senior Living in Park Ridge, 15 months after entering the memory care unit with Alzheimer’s disease.

Michele was born February 9, 1946 in Oakland, California, and moved with her family as an infant to St. Paul, Minnesota. She married Dan Miller, her husband of 56 years, and the couple lived in Ypsilanti, Lansing and Grand Rapids, Michigan, and St. Paul before settling in Chicago in 1969.

They raised three daughters: Nicole, who preceded Michele in death; Jennifer (Joe Teague), and Rebecca (Keith Engstrom). She also is survived by three grandchildren, Zachary Staver; Sarah and Charles Engstrom, and one great-grandson, Ivan Staver.

Michele was devoted to her whole family, loved traveling with Dan, and especially enjoyed eating well with a glass of pinot grigio.

Michele was passionate about creating art, a true artist.  She was especially accomplished in creating multiple lines of hand-made greeting cards, featuring wallpapers, collage, quotes of famous women, travel and nature.  A graduate of the American Academy of Art in Chicago, Michele’s early career focused on watercolor, pen-and-ink and illustration. Her work appeared in the New Yorker, Gourmet and Saturday Review.  She designed logos and posters for retail stores, and multiple Theatre on the Lake productions.

She was loved by so many and is missed every second.
