to fight Alzheimer's

My Story

My mother who will be 97 this year and has been suffering from the effects of Alzheimer's for the last 10 years. In her honor, I am participating in "The Longest Day" to raise funds and awareness for the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association.

The Longest Day is the day with the most light — the summer solstice. On June 20, 2024, thousands of participants from across the world come together to fight the darkness of Alzheimer’s through a fundraising activity of their choice.

My participation in The Longest Day is actually taking approximately a year and a half to complete. It has long been my dream to ride across the United States as a fund raiser. Now that I am retired, I planned to start in San Diego California and finish in St. Augustine Florida for a total of 3160 miles. Due to time restraints and other responsibilities, I divided this fund raiser ride in three parts. I completed the first part of the ride last March/April. Riding 965 miles from San Diego to El Paso Texas. The second leg across Texas starting where I left off in El Paso was completed last October/November. It was a total 1103 miles. The final leg will start from where I stopped last November at the border of Texas/Louisiana. It will be just under 1200 miles with the final destination of St. Augustine, Florida.

Although I am going to treat the final two legs of this rides as separate events, they will both fall under the same Longest Day Alzeheimer's Orginization event. Last Fall with everybodies generous donations we raised $2570. The total goal for the two sections is $5000.Will you join the fight with a donation today?

Alzheimer’s disease has touched so many lives, maybe even yours. But you can help. With your donation families can receive support on their Alzheimer’s journey, promising research can advance toward a future without Alzheimer’s and lives can — and will — be changed.

Your donation means so much, to myself and to all those affected by the disease. On behalf of more than 6 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s and over 11 million caregivers — Thank You.
