With over 6.5 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s disease, nearly every family in the US will face the disease in some way and must take on the hardships it produces. Within the Astrup Companies family of businesses, we continually see the impact of the disease through our relationships with patients and coworkers.

Ten years ago, the impact of Alzheimer’s struck our company at its core. Leonard Astrup, founder of Sterling Drug, which has evolved into Astrup Companies, passed away in 2014 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

In Leonard’s memory, our community pharmacy locations have been dedicating the month of June to Alzheimer’s fundraising efforts since 2016. Thanks to the hard work of our employees, the overwhelming generosity of our patients and customers, and matching funds from the Astrup Family Foundation, Sterling pharmacies have donated $350,000 over the past eight years!

Each of the Astrup Companies businesses will be joining the fundraising fun. Sterling Specialty Pharmacy, Sterling Long Term Care Pharmacy, Smart-Fill, IPBG, PMP, and Stone Arch LTC—along with our corporate office—will be joining our community pharmacies this June as they raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association.

We are aiming for a lofty goal of $60,000. The Astrup Family Foundation has agreed to match the first $40,000!
