Our Team Story
This summer UBS’s Team “UBS: The BPIT to END ALZ” is once again participating in The Washburn Challenge--a 22 mile cycling and 7 mile kayaking event all to support the Alzheimer's Association and their mission to support families facing this awful disease and advance research for treatments, and ultimately, a cure.
The Washburn Challenge is an Alzheimer’s Association “Longest Day” fundraiser and last year it was the 5th largest in the country! 100% of the $700,000+ that has been raised since it began in 2017 has gone to the mission of the Alzheimer’s Association to END Alzheimer’s and support those families that are affected. Over half of that amount has been raised by UBS employees!
Today there is great hope in this fight. With new drugs approved by the FDA and more promising treatments in the pipeline than ever before, we have entered into a new era – the "Era of Treatment”, but there is still so much to do.
An estimated 50 million people worldwide are living with Alzheimer's or other dementias, including almost 7 million Americans. In the United States alone, more than 11 million friends and family members are providing their care, unpaid. We must take action now, as these numbers will continue to rise and could cost our country more than $1 trillion annually.
The 8th annual Washburn Challenge is on June 22nd. Join the fight to END ALZ by joining us in this challenge or making a donation to help us reach our goal and to support all those facing this disease. THANK YOU!
