My Story
Being a caretaker for a loved one with Alzheimer's, simply put, is hard. Our family knows this all too well caring for our Pops. It takes endless love, energy, and patience. We unexpectedly and tragically lost our beloved brother Pierre who exuded these characteristics caring for Pops. Watching your love one unravel before your eyes and feeling helpless is heartbreaking. Pierre handled it with unconditional kindness and calmness being by Pops' bedside as much as possible and being the calming voice we all needed watching our patriarch succumb to the disease.
This June, I am participating in 48Peaks, climbing one of New Hampshire's highest peaks and this fall will be running the Chicago Marathon to raise awareness to the Alzheimer's Association's ongoing efforts to provide caretakers like our family with invaluable resources, education, supplies, and counseling to navigate the difficult times of an individual in decline.
Anything you can contribute helps the caretakers and ongoing research for a cure. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
