My Story
Normally when you think of ten years, you think of a celebration. Though this year will be our 10th year hiking the White Mountains of New Hampshire for the 48 Peaks Longest Day, it is a year that marks memories with many of the fabulous women, donors, and friends we have met along the way. It also marks the fact that we are working toward a day that we no longer have to raise funds and awareness for Alzheimer's.
Sooner or later, most of us will know someone suffering from Alzheimer's (if we don't already). Unfortunately, team SISU has a member of our team, Debbie, who is battling this disease. This year, my hike is in honor of Debbie and her husband John. Alzheimer's not only takes a toll on the person suffering from the disease but also on family, friends, and especially caregivers.
Over our ten years, Team SISU has raised over $175,000 aiding research, programs for patients, and support services for families and caregivers. Our goal is to crush the $200,000 mark. I hope you will help me surpass my personal goal of $5,000 in honor of Debbie and John or for someone in your life.
On their behalf, I extend my deepest appreciation for your support. One step at a time and we will continue to get closer to a cure. I hope to see it in my lifetime.
