My Story

I have participated in the Longest Day Fundraiser for the past several years and will continue to do so. Like so many of us, this awful disease has touched my life.

Thirty-five years ago I began my teaching career. As a new teacher, I was assigned a mentor teacher. I was blessed with Dottye as my mentor teacher. Dottye and I became friends during that time and have remained friends ever since. She is one of the dearest people in my life.

On May 9, 2023, Dottye took her last breath and went to Heaven after a long and debilitating journey with Dementia/Alzheimers.

The Longest Day is the day with the most light-  the summer solstice.  And with Light there is Hope. It's the day the Alzheimer's Association calls on everyone to fight Alzheimer's disease by raising funds and awareness for care, support, and research.

By supporting me as I walk on The Longest Day and throughout the months of May and June, we can stand up to the darkness of Alzheimer's and help bring Hope to others with a cure.
