Our Team Story

Our team has joined the fight to end Alzheimer’s and we need your help! On June 5th, our local real estate community is participating in a one-of-a-kind event called the Real Estate Rumble. This event is designed to promote fun, team building, and camaraderie for our local real estate industry through an exciting competition of field games for ten participating brokerages to sort out who will be the all-time winner, earning the title of Rumble Champion 2024!

Attached to this event is an emotional and heartfelt mission. We want to significantly impact our local community by fundraising to support the good work of the Alzheimer’s Association. By supporting this mission, you are helping to keep education and programs free for those living with the diagnosis and the caregivers supporting them.

Each one of our teams is honoring a loved one who’s been affected.

Our team is dedicating our efforts to the memory of our team sponsor, Carly Swartz's grandfather, David Statler Black. David was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. He graduated from Stanford University and received his juris doctor from the University of Washington. He got his start as a district attorney for King County in Seattle, WA in the early 1960s, and later moved on to the Federal Government as General Counsel for the Bureau of Public Roads. In 1963, President Kennedy appointed him as Commissioner and Vice-Chairman of the Federal Power Commission, and in 1966 he became the Administrator of the Bonneville Power Administration. He was later appointed by President Johnson to serve as the Under Secretary of the Interior for Secretary Stewart Udall from 1967-1969. He then returned to the private sector in New York and worked for Dreyfus Brothers Corporation, and on to Pierson, Ball, and Dowd in Washington, DC. He capped off his career at the Kansas Power and Light Company, first as Senior Vice President and General Counsel, and then served as CEO until he retired in 1989 and moved back to Seattle to enjoy retirement.

He was married for 59 years to Carly's grandmother, Nancy Haskell Black, and they had three children who all married and blessed them with four grandchildren! David Statler Black fought a valiant battle with Alzheimer's for seven years. As the disease progressed, he became very frustrated, lacking independence, and the ability to communicate. Fortunately, his family fought this battle alongside him, with music, the great outdoors, new restaurants, and a martini from time to time.

The Alzheimer’s Association gives those living with or caring for a loved one with this disease a way to have a better quality of life through support groups, a 24/7/365 hotline, and spearheading promising research that may one day lead to being able to put an end to the suffering. Will you join the fight with a donation today?
