Our Team Story
The Blue Wave Riders have been supporting the Longest Day Ride as a team since 2016. While the team origins are from folks affiliated with the Alzheimer's Research Program at Duke University, we're happy to have you join our team!
Here is the event information for this year's ride:
When: June 24, 2023 from 8:00AM-1:00PM
Where: The Neuse River Trail, starting at Anderson Point Park, Raleigh, NC
Address: 20 Anderson Point Park, Raleigh NC 27610
Details: We will gather between 7:30 and 7:45 AM, with the ride to start at 8:00 AM sharp. Please pack enough fluids and snacks to keep you rolling, as we will likely have limited support on the trail. It will likely get pretty toasty later in the day, so it's wise to hit the trail early. Rev. Henry Edmonds of Team Long Riders (another Duke-affiliated team) will be in a shelter at Anderson Point Park to provide a little support.
While the event is designed to be a 50-mile ride, you are welcome to ride whatever distance works for you. If you follow the attached link, you'll find a map of the Neuse River Trail. We'll take off from Anderson Point Park and head to the end of the trail in Clayton. We'll flip around and head back North, ride past our starting point, and continue to the Horseshoe Farm Nature Preserve in Wake Forest. We'll flip around one last time and head back to the starting point at Anderson Point Park. There appears to be a detour in effect on one stretch of the Neuse River Trail, so I will post more info about that once I've taken a preliminary ride to see what's up!
Thank you for supporting the Blue Wave Riders and helping us stand up to the darkness of Alzheimer’s! We greatly appreciate your financial support and your donation will go directly to the Alzheimer's Association.
