Our Team Story
Debb Michail and Nina Moussavi are two strong Persian women raised by strong Persian women who immigrated to America from Iran with the hope of a better future for their kids. Debb and Nina met through a mutual connection and became instant friends, bonding over a love of food and a shared culture. Debb is a renowned professional chef (you may have seen her recipes in the LA Times on "Taste of the Nation" with Padma Lakshmi), you can see more of her work here: https://chefdebb.com/. Nina is a lawyer, she doesn't have a cool website like Debb. They are both fierce social justice activists and spend hours talking about ways to change the world around them through their individual skills and shared passions. This fundraiser is a way to do just that.
What we are fundraising for:
Both Debb and Nina have lost grandmothers to Alzheimer's and know the cultural barriers that exist in getting health care awareness and resources to diverse communities across the country. Every dollar raised for this fundraiser will go directly to the efforts of the Alzheimer's Association to not only find a cure or treatment for Alzheimer's and other dementia but to also increase the programs and resources that the Association provides to people living with Alzheimer's/dementia and their caregivers.
A little about the Pop-Up Dinner:
Chef Debb will be cooking up an amazing Persian-inspired dinner and Nina will be her eager Sous Chef (but will mostly just try to stay out of the way and not burn anything). Debb and Nina will be roping in their significant others, Jordan and Michael, to play music, make drinks, serve food, etc.
This Pop-Up Dinner will be taking place in June 2023 in San Francisco, CA. The date, time, and location of the event will be announced closer to the event, but expect it to be around normal dinner time.
All food and drinks for the dinner will be covered by us, all you have to do is come with an empty belly!
How you can get involved:
Anybody who would like to attend the Pop-Up Dinner in June 2023 in San Francisco, CA would simply need to make a small donation of $40 directly through this donation page. Once you make a donation, we will reach out to you with more details.
If you can't attend the Pop-Up Dinner but would still like to make a contribution to this amazing effort, you can donate any amount that you feel comfortable with through this donation page.
We hope that you will consider making a contribution of any amount to this effort to realize a world without Alzheimer's and other dementia. Any amount, no matter how small, will go a long way!
If you have any questions, please contact Debb or Nina directly!
