I am
supporting the fight to end Alzheimer's
with my team

My Story
The Longest Day is the day of the year with the most light — the summer solstice. And it's the day I have committed to fight Alzheimer's disease! I’m participating in The Longest Day, a fundraising event to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
Today, an estimated of more than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's. In the United States alone, 11 million Americans provide unpaid care for people with Alzheimer's or other dementias. We must take action now, or these numbers will continue to rise.
This year I am the captain of Sunflower Sisters Standing Tall for the CURE, FL Alpha Delta Kappa Team for my chapter, Fidelis Rho. I got involved as my sister, Barbara Jane, was indirectly a casualty of Alzheimer's. She was the sole caregiver of her husband and thus neglected her own medical needs until it was too late. While she moved back and forth from hospital to rehab, my sisters and I became responsible for finding a facility that would except and care for her husband. This was a two month long search. During this time I became aware of how few facilities there are that specialize in the care and needs of Alzheimer's patients. So, I realized that a cure for this dreadful disease needed to be found and became committed to doing what I could to end Alzheimer's.
Stand up to the darkness of Alzheimer’s and make a donation today to help the Alzheimer's Association support all those facing the disease. We need your help to facilitate finding a cure. Thank you!
