My Story
On June 21, I'm participating in The Longest Day, an event to honor the strength, passion and endurance of those facing Alzheimer's disease. On the first day of summer from sunrise to sunset, my team, the Maryland ADK Black-eyed Susans, will complete an activity of our choosing to raise awareness and funds for the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
Today, over 35 million people across the world are living with Alzheimer's, including more than 5 million Americans. In the United States alone, more than 15 million caregivers generously dedicate themselves to those with Alzheimer's and dementia. And these numbers will only continue to rise unless we take action.
I wish to honor honor my MD Epsilon ADK sister, Andrea, who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's. I also wish to walk in rememberance of my Dad, James Taylor, who was diagnosed with severe dementia/alzheimer's and my Uncle Art Bedient and my Alpha Delta Kappa sister Dot Wangner all of whom passed away due to Alzheimer's. And, I do not want to forget to honor all the caregivers of loved ones with Alzheimer's. They need our support more than ever. It is a very trying task to care for a family member with Dementia or Alzheimer's.
Together, we can show those facing Alzheimer's disease they are not alone. Please make a donation to help the Alzheimer's Association advance research and provide care and support to those facing the disease today.
Thank you for your support and hope for a cure, May you always walk in the bright light of sunshine.
