is fundraising to honor:
Margaret and all those facing Alzheimers
On March 20th, I’ll be running the NYC Half Marathon, in support and honor of two very special humans, my partner, Maggie, and her mother, Margaret. Margaret began her journey with Alzheimer's and dementia in her mid-to-late 50s.
Although I’ve witnessed inexpressible grief through loving Maggie, Margaret, and family, I truly don’t know what it’s like to face this twisted, viciously devastating disease. I wish we lived in a world where they and millions of others didn’t have to know.
A few years ago, Maggie invited me to an event where I first met her parents. I’m glad I dressed to impress because it didn’t take long to see where Maggie gets her vibrant, loving, and grand spirit.
(Today, I question whether it was Maggie I was trying to impress)
(Shout out to Vince too)
I’m humbled and inspired by Margaret and her solar positivity. She continues to show up every day with joy, warmth, and an unshakable will to love her friends and family. Through the occasional fist-bump, gentle bear-hug, playful jab at her daughter followed by a wink, or breakout ABBA dance party, I’m reminded how lucky I am to know her and to celebrate her.
Thank you for your time and for reading. Please join me in supporting, donating, and growing awareness in our communities. Whether you can donate $1, $25, or $500, your donation directly supports people, families, and initiatives to face and end Alzheimer’s.
(If you can’t donate right now, I happily welcome any track, which inspires you so that I can add to my Half Marathon running playlist)
Any support is welcomed as I run with the Alzheimer's Association for Team Margaret Dos.
