The Longest Day event is tied to what else, the summer solstice!  So, I've launched an exciting new adventure! ~ The PURPLE CANOE campaign launched in the fierce winds of June 2021 to help in the fight against Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. Participating in The Longest Day, a fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Association, is a meaningful way for me to help support their broad reaching efforts in beating dementias. Their vision of "A World Without Alzheimer's and All Other Dementia" speaks to my heart. Both of my parents experienced different types of dementia and this is a small way to honor their memories. 

Through the Alzheimer's Association, I've become a strong advocate within my congressional district and I am in awe of the progress we have made.  We need to partner with our lawmakers to continue to support federal funding and introduction of new bills that support research, patients, families and caregivers.  It is more important than ever as the cost of dementias is staggering and rising.

So...my husband and I will be fulfilling a bucket list item of mine to paddle all 50 states ~ only now,  it will be in the PURPLE CANOE!!  We hope to spread awareness, share stories and bring some light to those impacted by dementia.  Ours will not just be a one day or year long endeavor ~ we will continue our paddle adventures as long as dementia continues to afflict over 50 million people worldwide!  And we are able to lift a paddle!!  We would love to meet you along the way!

Every dollar donated leads us one step, one paddle stroke, closer to a cure!
