Our Team Story
HELP ME RAISE $25K FOR ALZHEIMER'S!
In honor and memory of my dad, who passed away five years ago this week, and my mom, who lovingly cared for him through his disease and passed away last year, we are launching our 5th annual Longb-ALZ 4 Larry event. While the event format has changed each year, we are proud to have raised over $40,000 so far and are looking to raise another $25,000 this year alone.
My dad loved baseball and Opening Day, especially the Red Sox and Ted Williams (#9), but also grew to love the Twins, as he attended many games with us at Met Stadium, the Metrodome and Target Field. In honor of his love, I have secured donations worth $9 per MLB Home Run hit from Opening Day through the Longest Day, June 20th - (aiming for 2,000 HRs in that period and nearly $18,000). June 20th also happens to be Father's Day and my parent's 57th anniversary, giving special meaning to honoring my parents' legacy. It's #BombaSZN - as an extra incentive, I will also be matching $7/donation (in honor of his favorite Twin, Joe Mauer) to this event as well as $7/donation to another great cause, the Twins Community Fund, to help us get the last $7,000 to our goal.
Please join me in donating to this cause if you knew my dad, have a loved one (friend or family member) who either had or has Alzheimer's, or know someone who is a loving caregiver for someone with this terrible disease. Donate a flat amount, or pledge to donate an amount per HR your favorite MLB, college, high school, or youth baseball or softball team hits by June 20th, to help us reach our goal of $25,000 this year, in a fight for a cure.
Your continued donations mean the world to us in helping remember and celebrate Larry's legacy and raise money for this tremendous cause! Stand up to the darkness of Alzheimer’s and make a donation today to help the Alzheimer's Association support all those facing the disease. Thank you!
