is fundraising to honor:
Her mother Marilyn Faulkner
to fight Alzheimer's
The Longest Day is the day of the year with the most light — the summer solstice. And it's the day I have committed to fight Alzheimer's disease! I’m participating in The Longest Day, a fundraising event to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
My inspiration for participating in the Longest Day fundraiser is my dad, Bob Faulkner. The days are long as a caretaker of a loved one with Alzheimer's. I have watched my dad care for my mom tirelessly for several years now. He takes impeccable care of her from learning how to do her hair and apply her makeup to always making sure she looks beautiful and dresses her so nice down to her favorite earrings, necklaces, and bracelets. He keeps her healthy and safe by coordinating her therapies, doctors appointments, and managing her medications. As the disease has progressed her needs have increased to preparing and feeding every meal and assisting with bathroom duty. The days turn into nights and she often wakes dozens of times throughout the night. With her type of dementia - aphasia, Marilyn lost her ability to speak fluently and has trouble communicating how she feels. My dad is so in tuned with her they seem to have found a common language to get by for now. The way he continues to include her in conversations and keeps her social is awesome and the best medicine for her soul. He continues to make her laugh and in general she is happy. We believe that she still understands everything and knows everyone even though her doctor's say otherwise.
I will be honoring my mom Marilyn Faulkner with a FREE yoga class because to me she is a warrior. At times I know she gets very scared and anxious about not being able to express herself. She has so bravely sat through numerous doctors appointments talking about her like she is not even there. Yet still she maintains kindness, has the sweetest spirit and continues to go with the flow.
Join us on Saturday, June 20th, 2021 from 8am - 9am for a gentle yoga flow led by guided by certified yoga instructor Sara Taylor. During class we will stretch, flow, and send out good vibes to those affected by this horrible disease.

Today, an estimated 50 million people worldwide are living with Alzheimer's or other dementias, including more than 6 million Americans. In the United States alone, more than 11 million friends and family members are providing their care. We must take action now, or these numbers will continue to rise.
Stand up to the darkness of Alzheimer’s and make a donation today to help the Alzheimer's Association support all those facing the disease. Thank you!
