It's hard to imagine the impact that Alzheimer's can have on a family until you experience it first hand. This year I’m participating in The Longest Day on behalf of my mom. I invite you to join me as I work to raise awareness of the disease, and to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association. Together the strength of our light will outshine the darkness of Alzheimer's.

Team "Walking for Willie" is open to everyone!  Perhaps you remember her from Rochester, went to IHS, played on one of her tennis teams, know her Mary Kay sales pitch, or enjoyed a glass of wine together.  Family, friends, coworkers, neighbors, bartenders and beer buddies... we welcome you all to join. If someone you love has Alzheimer's, let us know so we can support you too.

It's easy!  All you have to do is walk sometime between now and the summer solstice on June 20th.  You can do it wherever you live and go as far as you like.  Power walker?  Consider dedicating a walk to Willie one day.  Is walking to the mailbox more your style?  That's cool too! 

If you join our team by February 28th and donate $10 or more during registration, you will receive a performance material T-shirt. If you do, would you mind sending me a picture of yourself wearing your t-shirt and a note about your walk? My goal is to make a photo album for mom of all the people who are supporting her. 

Did you know that more than 5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's or other dementias?  In the United States alone, 16 million friends and family members are providing their care.
