is fundraising to honor:
Joe and Chris DiPietro
My father is the most selfless man in my life and has been an amazing role model for me, showing what it means to be a man. That is to give love and respect to every person he meets and treat people how he would want to be treated. I am grateful for my father. Grateful to have someone provide for our family for all these years. Grateful for someone who supported me in everything that I did from rec sports and through college. He is always there for me and my brothers. As a husband, he is always there for my mom and did whatever he could to provide for the family.
However, in March 2019, we received the hardest news of our lives. It's hard to describe the impact my dad’s diagnosis of Alzheimer’s at age 55 had on our family. Of course shocking would come to mind. It is a rare situation since a majority of Alzheimer’s patients are not diagnosed until much later in life. Financially, my parents are not at an age for retirement and so family dynamics needed to change. Fortunately, my awesome mother stepped up to that role and now works while providing for my dad and my younger brother.
While a small percentage of Alzheimer’s patients are under the age of 60, we know that there are people out there that are in a similar situation as ours. This is why our family decided to create this Rush for Cure page. Our goal is to spread awareness of Alzheimer’s disease, specifically younger-onset Alzheimer’s and the physical and mental impacts of family dynamics. We also want to create and bring together a community of families impacted by Younger-onset Alzheimer’s to know that we are in this fight together.
If you would like to support our cause, there are several ways to do so:
•Donating to the Alzheimer’s Association – You can make a donation to the Alzheimer’s association through my page to fund research for cures for Alzheimer’s disease.
•Joining our team page – We encourage anybody who will like join to our cause become a member of our team. We encourage (but not require) members to share our page to his or her family and friends to spread awareness.
•General support – Our family is thankful for all thoughts and prayers for our fight. Simply knowing we have outside support gives us peace of mind and comfort.
I believe there is a cure out there for Alzheimer’s, and with your support we can finally defeat this terrible disease that impacts millions of Americans every year.
Thank you for reading and have a great day.
