is fundraising to honor:
her grandmother, Gigi
I'm participating in The Longest Day to show my love for my grandmother, Gigi, who passed away from Alzheimer's disease on September 11, 2016. In 2017, my family and I honored Gigi’s life by spending an afternoon doing all of her favorite activities - gardening, listening to Frank Sinatra, dancing, playing dominoes, and most importantly, gathering loved ones together. Our The Longest Day event that year brought back so many beautiful memories of the times we shared with our sweet Gigi, and we raised over $1,000.
In 2018, we grew our event, inviting friends and family to celebrate Gigi's life. We held the first annual Margaritas & Memories happy hour and shared stories of Gigi, as well as others' loved ones taken too soon by Alzheimer's. We did what we love - drinking margaritas - and raised over $6,000! In 2019, we hosted the second annual Margaritas & Memories and raised over $10,000! For 2020, while we are a bit delayed, we are hosting a socially distant drive by margarita stand on Sunday, September 13 - think lemonade stand, just alcoholic! We are inviting all of our Austin friends to give a donation to our team 'Gigi the Fabulous' and then drive by and pick up some frozen margaritas from 3 to 6 p.m.; and we hope non-Austin folk will consider giving, as well. If you are interested in being added to the evite, let me know!!
All non-profits are in great need of financial support due to the economic impact of COVID-19, and we appreciate the generosity of our friends and family in furthering the mission of the Alzheimer's Association. Every dollar raised advances dementia care, support, and research efforts. Thank you for supporting the fight to #ENDALZ!
