is fundraising to honor:
all those facing Alzheimer's
I will be running the Berlin Marathon on September 28th in support of the Alzheimer's Association and in honor of my father, Roger Ballou, who passed away on December 25, 2019 due to complications related to Alzheimer's and dementia.
As most of you know, I have been raising money for various charities over the past few years as part of my participation in other marathons. The NY Marathon for Huntington's Disease, the Chicago Marathon for Addario Lung Cancer Foundation, etc. These charities were selected based on personal relationships with individuals directly affected by each disease.
This year I'm requesting support for a cause that has directly affected my world. The Alzheimer's Association provided our mother with valuable support and resources during this difficult time. This was a key factor in my decision to support the Alzheimer's Association via the Berlin Marathon.
An estimated 50 million people worldwide are living with Alzheimer's or other dementia related issues including more than 5 million Americans. In the United States alone, more than 16 million friends and family members are providing their care.
All of you have been so kind and generous in previous years with your financial support for each respective cause. I'm hoping that each of you will be able to participate again this year for a cause very personal to me.
Thanks in advance to each of you.
All the best,
Please note that every dollar raised will go directly to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
