is fundraising to honor:
all those facing Alzheimer's
supporting the fight to end Alzheimer's
NC ADK had tremendous support for the 2018 The Longest Day Challenge to raise funds for Alzheimer’s Disease. We are hoping to surpass that challenge by asking every sister to donate $10-25 to this cause for the 2019 Campaign, which is on June 21st- the day with the most light (summer solstice).
If you are not familiar, this is a heart wrenching, progressive disease that destroys memory and other important mental functions.Patients with alzheimer's have a continuous decline in thinking, behavioral and social skills that disrupts a person's ability to function independently. Not only are the patients affected, but the caregivers lose the person they knew which brings stress and grief to bear. Almost everyone knows someone who has Alzheimer’s or is a caregiver. It is so very important to slow down the process and find a cure. In fact, I attended a Ruth Pauley lecture recently in Moore County in which a leading Duke researcher shared current and upcoming studies focused on pinpointing causes of alzheimer's in order to find a cure. Progress is being made, but we need to continue to fund their efforts.
I would like to challenge each sister to donate $10-$25.
