is fundraising to honor:
My Grandpa (Poppa)
The Longest Day is the day of the year with the most light — the summer solstice. And it's the day I have committed to fight Alzheimer's disease, in honor of my grandpa! I’m participating in The Longest Day, a fundraising event to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
Alzheimer's is a devastating disease that does not only affect the person who is suffering from it, but everyone around them. We have watched my grandpa, a man who could, and would, do it all, slowly forget some basic tasks that were once second nature. He is the epitome of strength and has preached "Mind over Matter" as long as anyone can remember. Seeing him struggle to remember my family and myself has been difficult for everyone.
Today, an estimated 50 million people worldwide are living with Alzheimer's or other dementias, including more than 5 million Americans. In the United States alone, 16 million friends and family members are providing their care. We must take action now, or these numbers will continue to rise.
I am running the NYC Half Marathon to stand up to the darkness of Alzheimer’s. I am graciously asking you to make a donation today to help the Alzheimer's Association support all those facing the disease. Thank you for your support!
