I was born and raised in Maryland and have been here my whole life. In fact, my children were born in the exact same hospital where I was born. I completed my pre-pharmacy work at Loyola College and attended University of Maryland at Baltimore School of Pharmacy. When I embarked on my pharmacy career in 1989, there was awareness of Alzheimer’s, but I was unable to provide patients and their caregivers much more than support and empathy. There was very little hope and no real treatment options for this insidious disease that I could suggest. Since that time in the infancy of my pharmacy career, thankfully, great progress has been made. I am extremely proud that my employer, Giant Food, has been an avid supporter of the Alzheimer’s Association and its mission, and was honored when asked to dance in the Memory Ball. This is such a worthy cause that offers hope to the many people I have encountered in my career who have heard the diagnosis, and to those who care for patients with Alzheimer’s. I dance in hopes that we will someday have a world without this disease.
