Doris is the youngest of seven, 6 older sisters and 1 lone brother. She grew up in the small village of Chaumont in upstate New York. While she's never had any professional dance experience, she has always had a love of dance. She was famous for her shoulder shimmy when she was four years old! In high school she performed gymnastics, where she got to dance during the floor routines. Her love of dance has never left her, so she felt honored when asked to join Coastal Georgia Dancing Stars.
Doris is dancing this year for her mother, who is battling vascular dementia, the many residents she has cared for with Alzheimer’s and Dementia and because she is passionate about senior care and the fight against Alzheimer's. In the past she has sat on the coordinating committee for The Walk to End Alzheimer's, and two years ago she volunteered her time at the Coastal Georgia Dancing Stars event. Seeing the amazing dancing inspired her to try her hand (and Feet!) when she was asked to join.
Currently Doris is the Executive Director of The Suites at Station Exchange in Richmond Hill. She is also the past president of the Greater Savannah Coalition on Aging and the Secretary of the Richmond Hill Rotary Club. Doris credits her involvement with all these organizations with helping her to raise funds for this worthy cause.
Doris is a mom of 4 amazing kids, and the Mimi of three beautiful grandchildren, that keep her life full and blessed. She would like to take this opportunity to thank them, and her sponsors for their support in this event.
