2023 Dancing Stars of Columbus

I am a transplant that has grown deep roots in Columbus and plan to be here for the long haul. Born in California to immigrant parents from Nicaragua, we moved back to Central America when I was four and spent the rest of my formative years there. Upon graduation from the American Nicaraguan High School, we moved back to the US where I attended college in the Bay Area. 

After meeting my now husband, Tim Villegas, through an ROTC summer camp in 1991, We have bounced all around the US and lived in CA, NY, VA, and TX.  The Army brought us to Columbus in 2005 and the rest is history!

Columbus has been great to me and my family.  I started off as a stay-at-home mom that worked part time for a Ft. Benning, Army Reserve Drill Sergeant unit, as an officer. Over time, we began investing in local real estate and I did the remodel and rental management for our properties.  Over the years that transitioned to me working on some projects for others and transforming commercial or residential spaces.  I love it and the flexibility it affords me. In my free time, I like to play sports like tennis, love to dance (I am Latina Afterall!), and enjoy traveling all over the globe. 

I feel lucky to be a part of this community and enjoy the many things it has to offer. I have made wonderful friendships for which I am so grateful. Columbus also gave my husband a job that he loves and our kids a great public education. Today our oldest is a Sophomore at UGA and the youngest a Senior at CHS. We feel fortunate to call this city our home.

I am grateful to be a part of this special fundraiser. Alzheimer’s runs in my family as it does for many of my friends’ too and anything that can be done to find a cure is a worthy cause.  I hope to see you there!
