Gayle Leff Goldstein, MD, is a co-managing partner and ophthalmologist at Georgia Eye Partners, and Chief of Ophthalmology at Emory Decatur Hospital.
Dr. Goldstein is an outspoken advocate for Alzheimer's awareness, a cause that has remained deeply personal to her throughout her life. She knows firsthand the heartbreaking impact memory loss can have on individuals and their loved ones, having cared for many patients with cognitive decline and dementia throughout her 25-year career as a physician. As a young child, she witnessed both of her grandmothers and great-grandmother suffer from memory loss and Alzheimer's before their passing. Her great-grandmother, who could only say one word, “tea,” profoundly impacted her view on the significance of memory. Dr. Goldstein believes that memories are not to be taken for granted, as they represent cherished moments and accomplishments that define our lives.
An Atlanta native and triplet, Dr. Goldstein grew up in Dunwoody with her parents, two sisters, and brother. She always played soccer and was on the drill team at Peachtree Highschool.
Dr. Goldstein is happily married to Eric Goldstein, with two daughters, Kaitlin and Ashley. Kaitlin, 22, is a UGA graduate now pursuing a Master’s in Public Health at the University of Colorado, and Ashley, 20, is a business student at the University of Florida.
When she’s not seeing patients, Dr. Goldstein and her husband are regular attendees at Atlanta United games and enjoy traveling, hiking, skiing, as well as playing tennis, pickleball, and golf
