Hi, I'm Dr. Samantha "Sam" Wright. I am excited and honored to be participating in Dancing Stars of Columbus. I was born and raised in Columbus and am proud to continue to call it home. I attended Auburn University for undergraduate and afterwards went on to Campbell University to pursue a Masters in Clinical Research. I then moved to Mobile, AL where I received my Doctor of Pharmacy from Auburn University. After pharmacy school, I returned to Columbus to practice and serve my community. I am the Director of Pharmacy for Columbus Specialty Hospital and work most Fridays at Dinglewood Pharmacy. If I am not working as a pharmacist, you may find me at Travels by Donna where I work as a travel agent, something I have done since High School. In my free time I'm usually traveling, volunteering for one of the many Junior League of Columbus events where I currently serve on their board, watching some type of sports, walking my dog Sterling, or just spending time with friends and family.
Every day in my profession, I encounter the heartbreaking reality of Alzheimer's and how it affects both my patients as well as their loved ones and caregivers. I am dancing in honor of my "Gran", Betty Jo Anderson-Dekle, who is currently battling the late stages of Alzheimer's disease. I have seen firsthand the struggles that families and caregivers endure when a loved one is diagnosed with this devastating disease. Though I do not have a dance background I am stepping out of my comfort zone to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's research and to honor my Gran. I can only hope for a day when a cure exits for this disease.
