Fundraising Honor Roll

Born and raised in Columbus as the third of six children, I graduated from the Columbus public school system and then Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia.  I met my husband of 43 years, Cory Loomis, when he was stationed at Ft. Benning, and we eventually returned to Columbus where he retired from the U. S. Army. We have three grown children and 5 grandchildren.  After returning to Columbus, I worked as a CPA with Robinson, Grimes, and Company for almost a decade. In 1998, I became a Trust Officer at Synovus where I have worked ever since. In my free time I enjoy being with family and friends, singing in the choir at First Presbyterian Church, playing with our German shepherds, and reading.

The profound sadness and helplessness which accompany Alzheimer’s disease first became personal for me nearly 10 years ago when my mother suffered from Lewy Body Dementia and Alzheimer’s for several years before her death in 2013. Since then, I have had several close friends with family members who have suffered from this disease. Due to my personal experience of the heartbreak and difficulty in saying “the Long Goodbye” to one we love, even though supported by other family members and caregivers, I am privileged to have the opportunity to raise both awareness and financial support to battle this terrible disease with the sincere hope that others’ suffering can be diminished and, hopefully, be totally eliminated one day.

Public performances are difficult for me, but participation in this event is my small way of helping in the struggle to find a cure for Alzheimer’s. I would be honored if you would vote for me. Together we can help end this scourge. Thank you.
