Hello, everyone, my name is Ethelyn Riley. My dad, Jake Riley, was a Colonel in the US Army and married a Columbus gal, Cora Williams. For his last tour of duty in 1964, we returned to her hometown and I graduated from Columbus High School. I love Columbus so much! I taught at Hardaway High School for 30 years and made life-long friends with both my fellow teachers as well as many, many students. I also love the theatre and have been involved with the Springer Theatre since 1968 (I know – I’m really letting y’all know how OLD I am!). What a joy it was to be part of a community that could bring live entertainment to the Chattahoochee Valley! Entertaining people may well be considered my “happy place”, but there is so much more than just a fun evening involved with Dancing Stars of Columbus.  I know first-hand the impact Alzheimer’s has on a family. My paternal grandmother had the misfortune to be diagnosed with this awful disease back in the 1960s. In those years we weren’t even sure what it was, but we “lost” my grandmother as she continued to live on in the shell of her body. Heartbreaking is the only word to describe what it did to my grandfather, my father and every other family member. I KNOW a cure is out there – waiting to be discovered – and that is my reason for being a part of Dancing Stars of Columbus. Please vote for me, and let’s find that cure for Alzheimers!!!
