Sarah grew up in Sanford, FL, better known as the “celery capital of the world”. Sarah spent her childhood between being a barefoot tomboy to tap dancing in variety shows around town including the nursing home where her grandmother lived. She learned to jitter bug at the age of 4 standing on her dad’s feet as they danced to music from the 1940’s.
Sarah is dancing this year because her friend, Ken Covers was an inspiration raising so much money dancing for Alzheimers the past two years. Besides Ken, her husband Peter’s Aunt Joyce Card had Alzheimers for over 10 years and Sarah has heard stories of how this disease caused such pain for their family. Because of these stories, along with many friends' family's suffering with this debilitating disease, she is hoping we'll see a cure in her lifetime.
She says, "This experience has meant so much more to me than I ever dreamed! My heart has been deeply touched by the stories I've heard throughout this process. All of the people, whom I knew and never heard of, who donated to my fundraising page have amazed me at their generosity and kindness. It has been a life changing experience for which I am forever grateful."
Sarah lives in Morningside with her husband, Peter and their two Coton de Tulear’s, Emma and Cody. She is a Realtor with Ansley Atlanta Real Estate, an active member of the Midtown Atlanta Rotary Club and on the Alliance Theatre Advisory Board. She and her husband are active in the community and their church. Above all, her priority has been their blended family of five fabulous adult children. They, along with their growing families, inspire her every day to be the best person possible.
