In Loving Memory of Susie Hernandez
In Loving Memory
Susan "Susie" Mary Hernandez died peacefully on October 13, 2023, in Dodge City, KS. She was 75. Born to Pete and Mary Farrell on June 19, 1948, She was the salutatorian in the inaugural graduating class at Trinity Catholic High School in Hutchinson, KS, where she also worked part-time at Dillons as a cashier, which she deemed the best job she ever had.
She continued her education at the University of Kansas, where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism. Following graduation, she was married and had four children. She and her family lived in Oswego, Kansas City, and Wichita, before eventually moving to Ashland, KS.
In Ashland, she served as Deputy County Clerk at the Clark County Courthouse and was an active parishioner at the St. Joseph Catholic Church. On October 9, 1999, she was remarried to Dennis Ramon Hernandez.
Susie loved reading, puzzles, and chocolate. She had a deep love for the ocean, especially dolphins, and never turned down an opportunity to eat crab legs or shrimp. She was an enthusiastic hugger and always gave more than she received, but most of all, she cherished time with her family and her role as a mom.
Susie is survived by her husband, Dennis, Spearville, KS, and her four children: Tyler Hartmann and his daughters Alexa and Jenna, Kansas City, MO; Courtney Hartmann Tisa and her husband, Mikey, San Diego, CA; Bri Frisby and her husband Dan, and their children Slade, Lucas, and Faith, Plains, KS; and Josh Hartmann, San Diego, CA; as well as three step-children and seven step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death and is now happily reunited with her mother and daddy, and siblings Joan, Kay, and Pat.
