JoAnn Rita Wong, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away on September 2, 2023, in Troy, Michigan. She was 90 years old.

Born on November 3, 1932, to Kent and Emily Quan in New York, JoAnn spent her formative years in Louisville, Kentucky, where she embraced the values of family and heritage that would define her life.

JoAnn moved to Southeast Michigan in 1956 where she worked several years for the United States Postal Service and running the family restaurant businesses. Upon retirement, she relocated to Henderson, Nevada in 1999.

JoAnn was proud of her Chinese heritage, and she loved sharing it with family and friends. One of her fondest traditions was gathering with her loved ones for dim sum. JoAnn also enjoyed traveling with her family. Over the years, she embarked on trips to China, enjoyed several cruises, and visited many places in Europe. She cherished countless walks with friends and her numerous visits to the local casinos to have dinners out, watch live shows, and play the slots.

JoAnn Rita Wong was the devoted wife of the late Manhay Wong. She was the loving mother of Keith (Fannie), Cindy Ranger (Jim), Craig (Nancy), and Jeff (Julie); beloved grandmother of Stefanie (Carlton) and Michael (Tiffany), Bryan and Ava, Hayley and Carlin, Gabrielle and Hayden; and great-grandmother of Caleb, Avery, Evan, and Hannah. JoAnn was also a dear sister of Joyce Villano, Dee Dee Krammer, and the late Robert Quan, Mary Lou Hockman, and Yvonne Quan. Her influence will be felt for years to come through these precious family connections.

The family will receive friends Friday, September 15, 3-8pm at A.J. Desmond & Sons, 2600 Crooks (btw Maple & Big Beaver), Troy, 248-362-2500. Funeral service and burial will take place privately.

In lieu of flowers, JoAnn's family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association in her name.
