Beloved Mom, Grandma, Sister, Aunt, and Friend

Patricia passed away Friday, June 4, with her children by her side, after a 10+ year battle with Alzheimer's Disease.

Pat (or Patsy to her extended family) was born in Birmingham, Alabama and later moved with her family to Hattiesburg, Mississippi. There, she met her husband, Robert Watson Davenport (Bob), and they were married at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in 1953. She and Bob had five children. They moved to Jackson, Mississippi in 1980, where Pat lived for 25 years. She cherished her parish family at St. Therese Catholic Church there and made many close friends there. Later, she moved to Rogers, Arkansas to be near family.

Pat was beloved by her family and countless friends, and her gentleness and kindness touched the hearts of every person she met. Her strength and faith were an inspiration to all. She was a devoted mother, a true friend, and a champion of the underdog or anyone who had been hurt, neglected, or felt unloved. Her compassion for those in need was unmatched, and her love for her children extended to all their friends and acquaintances, as well. She was an example to everyone she knew of how to live a meaningful, Christian life.

Pat is preceded in death by her parents, Pennington and Grace McGeever Neville, her husband Bob, two brothers Clark and Jerry Neville, and her eldest son, Robert Davenport, Jr. She is survived by her children Sharon Davenport; Susan Davenport; Gerard Davenport (Kim); and Francie Davenport; her daughter-in-law Janet Davenport; grandchildren Drew Davenport (Christina) and Julie Davenport; great-grandchildren Mckinsey and Lucas Davenport; her brothers Penn Neville (Marlene) and Bryan Neville (Rita); several nieces, great-nieces and great-nephews.

The Davenports would like to thank the staff at Magnolia Place in Rogers, Arkansas for their compassionate care the past three years and the nurses from Arkansas Hospice for their kindness in these last two months. They truly do God's work, and we were blessed to have such special people caring for our Mom! Although Alzheimer's took her away little by little, her loving, joyful nature was never stifled, and she made a big impact on her caregivers, hospice nurses, and fellow residents.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Pat's name to the Alzheimer's Association (website) or Catholic Charities and ask all inclined to pray the rosary in her honor. It was her favorite devotion.
