Our mother was born June 11, 1940 in Forest Park, IL. Mom moved to Des Plaines where the three of us came into the world starting in 1965. She raised us alone and while times were tough, she did her best to provide for all our needs/wants. As we got older, she began working for Mobil Oil in Schaumburg, IL (now ExxonMobil) and eventually transferred to their headquarters in Fairfax, VA. When she wasn't working at Mobil she was working on her passion; sewing/crafting. Anyone who lived around Occoquan, VA either has a towel or sweatshirt made by our Mom. After her retirement from Mobil, our mom moved to Florida where she built a sewing/crafting shed in her back yard. She wanted a place where she could sprawl out her crafting and then go into a clean house. She called her crafting business 'Originals by Sugar Britches'. There were many visits to Florida to see mom. We started to see changes in mom beginning in 2013. They were small and we brushed them off. Two years later, after losing a dear friend, we began to see more changes. They say that significant events can make things worse for people with Dementia/Alzheimer's, however at this point Mom had not been officially diagnosed. She wasn't officially diagnosed until 2017 where they told us she had Vascular Dementia, late onset of Alzheimer's. She had a few falls since then and lost her battle with the disease on September 5, 2020. While it is hard on us to lose her, it was harder on her to not understand why her brain would not work right. We love and miss you mom.
