Dan was my husband and my best friend. Life was always an adventure - what one didn't think of the other did. We tried to live life to the fullest - taking advantage of the blessings allotted to us.
Dan was always such a gentleman well-mannered and polite, but always quick with a witty remark. His joviality and good nature attracted people the moment he walked in the room. His contagious smile just melted my heart.
Our journey with the early onset of ALZ was not a particularly smooth nor welcome one. I will be eternally grateful knowing he recognized me until the end! It was so tough to see him like this, but I always tried to keep some kind of normality in our lives.
I found a poem that I would like to share (not sure who wrote it but I didn't):
If tears could build a stairway, and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to Heaven and bring you home again!
My heart still aches in sadness
And tears still flow
What it meant to lose you,
No on will ever know!
One thing that I always said to him and he would repeat to me every now and then: I will love you forever and ever I promise!
