My dear Mother`RUTH RAYMOND FREY~ passed away with this horrible disease in July 2008.I would love to help find a cure for this disease ,who knows it could happen to us,To watch someone get old is bad enough with all the problems you get as you age.To watch them waste away and eventually forget everything and everyone was one of the saddest things I've experienced.Please join in for this great cause..Alzheimers.Is a progressive and fatal brain disease. As many as 5.3 million Americans are living with Alzheimers disease. Alzheimer's destroys brain cells, causing problems with memory, thinking and behavior severe enough to affect work, lifelong hobbies or social life. Alzheimers gets worse over time, and it is fatal. Today it is the sixth-leading cause of death in the United States. . Fact: Alzheimer's currently affects an estimated five million Americans, and the number is expected to triple by mid-century. One in ten Americans aged 65 or older and nearly half of those 85 or older are stricken with this devastating disease. Definition of Alzheimers, Alzheimer's disease is a progressive, degenerative disorder that attacks the brain's nerve cells, or neurons, resulting in loss of memory, thinking and language skills, and behavioral changes. Typical warning signs include: Memory loss, especially of recent events, names, placement of objects, and other new information Confusion about time and place Struggling to complete familiar actions, such as brushing teeth or getting dressed Trouble finding the appropriate words, completing sentences, and following directions and conversations . Poor judgment when making decisions. Changes in mood and personality, such as increased suspicion, rapid and persistent mood swings, withdrawal, and disinterest in usual activities Difficulty with complex mental assignments, such as balancing a checkbook or other tasks involving numbers.
