Carmen lived 90 beautiful years. She "lived laughed and danced her way thru life"
Carmen is survived by her children Fred and Dianne
After she was diagnoised with Alzheimer's I (Dianne) began recalling those very special memories I had of her and me while I was growing up. Crying a lot, feeling lost, I began writing down those special moments. After reading them I hope you will add your own special memories to share.

MY MEMORIES OF YOU:
I remember when I was young you always being dressed in a dress. You always had yourself together, you once said "if the houses was on fire, I won't leave until I have my eye brows on."

I remember going to a mother & daughter luncheon, you made us matching outfits. Brown quilted skirt jumpers, mom & me. How special were we.

I remember you playing jacks with me, you were good sweeping up the jacks as you bounced the ball up high and catching it with the jacks all in one hand. Mom, jack champion!

I remember my most special memory of you & me. You took me to see The Wizard of OZ , at the Alex theater in Glendale. After the movie you & me arm & arm skipping down the street, signing "We're off to see the Wizard, the wonderful Wizard of Oz, because because- because of the wonderful things he does". I LOVED that movie!! What a very special time we had, the only thing missing were our red ruby slippers.

I remember your wonderful butterfly kisses softly on my cheek, tickling making me laugh.
XOXO Dianne

Carmen introduced herself as "Carmela" and that is the name I have known her by for many years. When I lived at "Casa Alcantar," she was managing the small family-owned apartment building in Burbank. I moved into a wonderful big unit in her beautiful apartment complex and shortly thereafter, my sister, Diane Massett was hired in Burbank so we became room mates, just like old times. When I became engaged to Christopher Darryn, I moved to a unit upstairs. Diane remained in the unit downstairs and still enjoys living there today. Christopher and I lived there until we bought a nearby townhouse. We were all her tenants, but she has always been more like family to me, my family, my friends, and so many others who had the joy of knowing and loving her. My parents, Monte and Mary Massett had a wonderful friendship (familyship) with her as well. We have also had the pleasure of meeting and knowing her dear children, as well as some of her grandchildren and her great grandchildren over the years.
I fondly remember she was tickled that Christopher remembered that she got her hair done every thursday and would wish her a great appointment on her way out. We all loved how she always dressed up and wore pretty jewelry, even when repairing things around the unit. She was fiercly independant and did amazing work with "elbow grease" and determination. She was on top of everything and, not only that, she communicated very well, always telling us what was coming up and when. She sweetly decorated the patio and tables for every holiday with such festivity, even wrapping the railings in yards and yards of beautiful lights at Christmas time. She took great pride and joy in creating and maintaining a beautiful flower garden and planters, yes, all the while in her beautiful outfits, ha ha.
When Christopher, Diane and I went to visit her, she was as lovely and kind as ever. It had been quite a while since we had seen eachother, so even if she didn't fully remember us, she was gracious and sweet. When Christopher asked her how many boyfriends she had there, she replied with a grin, "So many, I have lost count". What a great sense of humor and wit. She always complimented my dad on his long eylashes and great smile. What a wonderful flirt.
Her Catholic faith was strong. Her hugs and kisses were warm. Her smile and laughter were delightful. We miss you but are assured through our Christian faith that we will rejoice again with you in Heaven one day.
Keep dancing!
We will always love you!

She loved, laughed and danced her way through life with grace and charm.
She was sassy, feisty and could out dance us all.
Nanie and my grandfather were the original dance party. Renting halls and filling them with Big Band music where they would swing dance the night away. Her vanity was on point. She maintained a weekly set and roll appointment for 40 years. She believed polyester was the best invention with its wash and wear care, it never failed her decked out style. Always in heels never without lipstick and forever charming the men.
Heaven just got some major sass and glamour.
