Anne was a force. She taught me that if you don't ask, the answers no and that if you have something nice to say, say it; you might make someone's day. She was an academic with two masters and a PhD. She was a loving wife for 41 years, and a wonderful mother to me and my sister.
Over the last 20 years she, like so many others with this affliction, was robbed of the richness of life. She almost always kept a positive attitude, but was keenly aware of what she called "her rotting brain." At times her strength wavered and she grew sorrowful and frustrated at her situation. She was never able to know my partner of 14 years, or her 6 and 3 year old grandchildren and they were never able to know the amazing woman that I grew up with. Despite this, even 'till the end, she managed to smile, laugh, and spread her warmth to friends and strangers alike.
Please join us in helping to end this disease for so many others like my mom, so that future generations may live their life with a fullness and richness that those with Alzheimers cannot truly partake.
