Our dad and husband, Tom Akin, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 from Frontal Temporal Dementia, he was 75 years old
Dad graduated from the University of Evansville with an Economics and MBA degree where he was also a member of Sigma Phi-Epsilon. Always dedicated, Dad was with Whirlpool Corparation for 30 years!
He was a Green Beret in the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam and earning a Bronze Star, Army Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and numerous other decorations from the country of South Vietnam. A real American Hero!
Tom was the past president of the Downtown Civitan Club in Evansville, IN and was responsible for fund raising, design and building of the Four Freedoms Monument to celebrate the Bicentennial.
Dad loved traveling, sports, and spending time with his seven grandchildren.
He was the greatest and we are going to miss him dearly!
