Dolores was born on November 29th, 1933 in the Dominican Republic. In 1953 she married Alejandro Nuñez and soon they were on their way to starting a family. That family would eventually grow to 10 children, Mike, Jorge, Mia, Joe, Dion, Dario, Alex, Denny, Rosemary and Frankie plus countless other nieces and nephews they took in or supported long distance. Seeking better opportunity for his family and the American dream, Alejandro first arrived in the U.S. in 1962, shortly after Dolores joined him leaving her heart in the D.R. along with 7 children. But there was no time for sorrow she new if she wanted to see her family reunited again there was only one clear path forward, work hard and save to eventually be able bring their children to the U.S. Four years later they did just that. In 1966 the family was reunited again and lived in a 5th floor walk-up on the upper west side of Manhattan. Dolores loved crafting, cooking and was a great seamstress. Through much sacrifice she and Alejandro were able to buy their own home in Queens in 1970. In less than ten years they were able to fullfil their dreams of reuniting the family and owning a home with a large enough backyard that the children can run and play all day. Their dream continued, Alejandro became a business owner and he and Dolores instilled in their children a belief that through hard work, perseverance and a good education they can achieve great things. And in death Dolores' legacy will continue through the many lives she nourished and impacted throughout her 89 years of living.
