On the morning of July 5, 2022 at the happy age of 104, Michael (Mike) John Del Percio, a WWII veteran, gave his final salute to the world. He passed away peacefully of natural causes in Stuart, FL.
Michael story began on March 8, 1918. He was delivered by a midwife at his home in Corona in Queens, N.Y. to his parents, Atelio and Carmela (DeMeo) Del Percio, who immigrated to the U.S. from Italy.
He relished the simple pleasures of life and family. An Italian through and through, that undoubtedly meant food and the love and camaraderie that comes with it.
Thinking of Dad, Grandpa, Uncle, Friend, and Lover of Life Michael Del Percio brings joy to each of us as we recall our time with him. Being lucky enough to share his advice, his humor, and his supportive love enriched all of our lives. Thankfully over the past few years we have been able to celebrate his life with him through parties and visits.
Our dad was lucky to not live with this horrible disease but others in our family have been affected and it was a cause dear to his heart because to that.
He will be reunited with his beloved wife Alice on September 16 at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minnesota. The service will include a US Honor Guard befitting a Navy veteran of World War II.
