Barbara, a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, was a long-time resident and nurse of Des Plaines. She was a member of Christ Church United Church of Christ in Des Plaines, where she served as a parish nurse, among other roles. She will be remembered as a vital part of her community, always with a smile, warmth, compassion, and love. Her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and friends will miss her presence.

Barbara A. Blume, age 87, a resident of Des Plaines, Illinois since 1938 passed away March 27, 2022. Beloved wife of the late Willard "Bud" Blume. Loving mother of Diane (Tim) Boyle, Jill (Jeff) Johnson, and Karen (Nick) Harkovich. Proud grandmother of Jason (Dana) Fillipp, Jessica (Jesse) Massman, Brian Johnson, Tim (Valerie) Harkovich, and Michael (Araceli) Harkovich, and great-grandmother of Olivia and Connor Fillipp, Jake and Joslyn Massman, and Kennedy and Everly Johnson. Dear sister of Susan (Dick) Travis and the late Hugo (Jean) Dahm. Barbara was born April 29, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Hugo and the late Rosella (nee Harvey) Dahm.


Barbara shared her vision of a goodbye entailing it as a celebration of life! Therefore, her children invite you to celebrate her life on Friday, April 1.

Visitation: 4 pm - 6 pm
Celebration of Life Service: 6 pm
Private interment in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Arlington Heights, Illinois.
