Every 65 seconds, someone in America develops Alzheimer's Disease. Unfortunately, women are at the epicenter of this epidemic. Dismally, 1 in 3 seniors passes away with Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia. Alzheimer’s Disease knows no boundaries — it does NOT play fair. It is a burden that imprisons both minds and families. Granny Mac became a victim of Alzheimer's. Granny Mac (my chosen framily's grandmother) became the 1 in 3 seniors that pass away with Alzheimer's disease -- departing this earth to join my grandmother as a purple angel in heaven.
Regrettably, Granny Mac could not remember her late husband, her 3 children, nor her twin granddaughters. Furthermore, she could not remember her beloved dogs. She could not remember how much she loved to garden, basket weave, sew, and travel. Granny Mac was a God Fearing woman who was active in her church and her community, but she could NOT remember. Similarly, Alzheimer's disease stole my grandmothers memories. She did not recall the amazing life she led, her husband, 13 children, any of her granschildren, nor could she remember her name.
I believe that if we work together, we will live to see the cure to Alzheimer's Disease. Please help me raise awareness for Alzheimer's and raise money for research!! I can't take the field without you! I BVB for Women, for my Grandmother Catherine and for Granny Mac. Win or lose, our goal is a world without Alz!! #blondes #bvbraleigh #whyibvb #purpleangel #purplewarrior #RivAlzRaleigh
To eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.
